Panasonic VIERA Review

This is a very good HDTV with amazing color and definition. I would chose this over a Sony or a Toshiba any day.

In photos, the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U looks a lot like every other HDTV on the market: a glossy black rectangle. In person, however, it's a lot more striking and less glossy. In fact, the black frame around the screen isn't glossy at all, it's simply fronted by a big pane of glass that lends the panel a somewhat more sophisticated look than a typical set, where the frame is raised a quarter inch or so from the surface of the screen.

Like most plasmas in Panasonic's 2008 lineup, the TH-50PZ800U has a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, or 1080p, which is fast becoming a standard feature on all flat-panel HDTVs. As we've said before, however, the difference between 1080p and lower resolutions is difficult to discern, even at this relatively large screen size.

Between the great fast picture, surprisingly good sound, lots of HDML inputs, good 480p DVD picture, and great price compared to the Pioneers... its an easy decision!

Great job Panasonic!

JD Salinger Dead

Author JD Salinger died at the age of 91 in Cornish, N.H. of natural causes.

Published in 1951, “The Catcher in the Rye” became Mr. Salinger’s most famous work with its distinctive depiction of its angry, iconoclastic teenage protagonist, Holden Caulfield.

He had not published a new work since 1965, and lived in near-total isolation, having refused the attention of the literary world and the news media for decades.

JD Salinger's reps say that there will not be a funeral service in order to keep his family's privacy secure.

Toyota Recall

Recently Toyota announced a recall due to the fact that many Toyota car models were experiencing the sticking of accelerator pedals being jammed in the driver floor mats.

Toyota Motor Corp. was “inaccurate” in saying U.S. investigators concluded that no safety defect exists in the 3.8 million vehicles it’s recalling over floor mats, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Toyota’s recall came after Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood urged the vehicle owners to remove driver’s side floor mats.

What is the iPad?

The iPad is basically an iPhone mixed with a lap top. It features a touch screen with internet capabilities, gaming capabilities and other media functions in a portable tablet size.

How Long Is The Battery Life?
According to Apple, 10 hours of active use on a single charge, or 30 days in standby mode.

What Apps Will Run On It?
Every app that is currently on the App Store will work on the iPad. Those apps designed for use on the iPhone will only take up a small portion of the screen, or they can be blown up to full size with some visual degradation.

There will also be iPad-exclusive apps which are designed to take advantage of the larger screen and will look just as crisp as they would on a normal computer. Here's a list of iPad-exclusive apps that will come pre-loaded on the device:
Safari
Mail
Photos
Video
YouTube
iPod
iTunes
App Store
iBooks
Maps
Notes
Calendar
Contacts
Home Screen
Spotlight Search

The iPad looks to be a hit and should have quite a following as with any other Apple product.
